Our VITA interview prep course starts with getting you comfortable with the VITA format and helping you select quality personal examples so you are prepared to answer any question you’ll face regarding the 5 core competencies. In addition, you’ll be put through a full mock VITA interview and be provided with specific feedback on areas for improvement.
You’ll work 1-on-1 with an experienced member of our team of medical students and doctors, who will guide you through brainstorming/strategy sessions, a full VITA™ mock interview, and answer any questions you might have regarding this new admissions tool.

Part 1: Experiences Call
We will help you identify experiences from each of the 5 core competencies that the VITA interview is centered around: Social Skills, Cultural Competence, Teamwork, Reliability and Dependability, and Resilience and Adaptability.
Part 2: S.T.A.R. Coaching Call
There are two types of questions that will be asked during the VITA™ Interview: Past Behavior and Situational.

Part 3: Full VITA Mock Interview
The AAMC VITA Mock Interview will be conducted on a Zoom video call. The VITA Mock Interview will be screen recorded and shared with the VITA Team. A team member will then watch your interview and fill out an evaluation form. You will also be sent the interview in order to learn from your mistakes.
Part 4: VITA Interview Evaluation
During and after your interview, a team member will fill out an evaluation form. The purpose of the Mock AAMC VITA Interview evaluation form is to measure your performance in multiple areas. From these scores you will know which areas you need to work on.
Part 5: Tips and Advice Call
After you have been given your evaluation form you and a team member will have a phone call. They will go over any advice specifically for you and helpful tips. You can also ask questions regarding your evaluation and/or the AAMC VITA Interview.
Part 6: VITA Sample Question Bank
The team has created a bank of questions that could potentially be asked during the VITA Interview. You will have access to all of these VITA sample questions after your mock interview in order to study and practice your answers.
